Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning on Monday noon drawing attention to an upcoming bad weather front with main features heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms, dense snowfalls and stormy winds of intensity 8 to 9 Beaufort.
The bad weather front is forecast to start on Tuesday noon, February 1, and last until Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Snowfalls are expected mainly on the mountainous and semi-mountainous regions in central and northern Greece.

Tuesday, Feb 1
Heavy rainfalls and locally powerful thunderstorms are forecast:
as of noon time in: Ionian Islands, Epirus and western Sterea, from
in the afternoon in western Peloponnese and in the evening in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the islands of the eastern Aegean.
Snowfalls in western Macedonia and in the mountainous and semi-mountainous Epirus and gradually in the central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Stormy South-South-West winds will prevail in the seas, their intensity will reach 8 Beaufort locally and possibly also 9 B.
Wednesday, Feb 2
Locally heavy rains and thunderstorms will continue in the regions mentioned above and will extend as of the morning hours to Thessaly, the Sporades islands, Evia, eastern Sterea and temporarily in eastern Peloponnese.
From noon to the afternoon will extend also to Cyclades islands, Crete and the Dodecanese.
Heavy snowfall on the mainland mountains, the semi-mountainous regions of central and northern Greece, as well as in areas with lower altitude in Thrace.
Weakening of the weather phenomena is expected in the northern Ionian islands, Epirus and western Sterea at noon and in
Thessaly, the Sporades and Evia by night.
Stormy north winds will prevail in the Ionian Sea with maximum intensity expected to reach 8 Beaufort locally. Winds will continue blowing with 7 to 8 Beaufort in the South-East Aegean Sea.
Thursday, Feb 3
Heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms in Crete, the Cyclades, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese and
temporarily in eastern mainland and eastern Peloponnese.
The phenomena will initially weaken on the islands of the eastern Aegean Sea and gradually -until evening- and in the other regions.
Heavy snowfall will occur locally in the mountainous and semi-mountainous of the central and northern Greece in the morning and in areas of Thrace with lower altitudes.
Stormy north winds will prevail in the seas, intensity locally 8 to 9 Beaufort.
