Greek PM Mitsotakis tested positive for Covid-19 UPDATE

Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been tested positive for  Covid-19, he announced Monday noon.

On a social media post, the Prime Minister said that he was tested positive following the daily rapid test in the office.

“Consequently I will be isolated in my home and work from there. I want you to remember that triple vaccination provides the best possible protection against serious disease,” Mitsotakis added.

H expressed hope everything will go well and he will soon return to his office.


Sunday evening, the Greek Prime Minister returned from Istanbul where he spent the weekend attending the Celebrations of the Orthodoxy Day at the Ecumenical Patriarchate and a lunch with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.


According to state broadcaster ERT, the PM had a negative PCR test on Saturday morning, right before flying to Istanbul.

Meanwhile, both the Turkish President and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew have been informed on the issue.

Mitsotakis has been fully inoculated with three doses of Covid-vaccine.
