Schools in Greece will open on Monday, September 12, 2022, Education Minister Niki Kerameos announced on Friday.
Speaking to Skai TV, the minister said that the schools “will open with the best possible human resource condition of all time,” saying that 8,500 hiring have been completed.
The new permanent appointments have brought the total number of permanent appointments in the last 2.5 years in education and special education to 25,000, she added.
She also announced that invitation for substitute teachers is being signed today and that candidates will be able to enter the platform to fill in their application as of next week.
Kerameos recalled the extension of all-day school until 5:30 from September in approximately 5,000 school sections. 3,000 teachers will be hired just for the extension of hours.
She said that the goal is to upgrade the education provided but also to support working parents.
