Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued an emergency report on Wednesday, warning of a heatwave that will hit the country with temperatures up to 41 degrees Celsius. At the same time, other meteorologists forecast that after the heatwave is over on Sunday, August 21, unstable weather will follow with a temperature drop of even 10 degrees Celsius.
According to EMY warning, high temperatures will prevail over the next three days in the country.
Temperature rise will start tomorrow Thursday from west and will continue on Friday. On Saturday the temperature will
note a small drop in western and northern Greece, but will remain high in all other regions. Its maximum value is predicted to reach 40C°-41°C in certain regions of the mainland and 37°C on the islands.

EMY warning August 18-21, 2022
1. On Thursday (18-08-2022) the maximum value of the temperature it is predicted to reach 38°C-39°C in continental regions; locally in the west -mainly in Aitoloakarnania, SW Greece- 40°C and 35°C-36°C on the islands
and in their islands 35 and 36.
2. On Friday (19-08-2022) the maximum value of the temperature it is predicted to reach 39°C-40°C in the mainland locally in Thessaly, 41°C in the eastern mainland, and 36°C-37°C on the islands.
3. On Saturday (20-08-2022) temperature in the west and the north will retreat by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, but in the east continental regions will reach 39°C-40°C.
It should be noted that from Saturday afternoon a change in weather is expected from the northwest, with storms which will be likely locally strong and accompanied by strong winds.
4. On Sunday (21-08-2022) the temperature will drop significantly across the country and will return to near normal for the season levels (in most areas its maximum value at 32°C-35°C, while the weather in northern Greece and mainly in
Macedonia, will be unstable.
