Domestic violence: Man abducts ex wife, rapes her and sets her hair on fire

A 28-year-old woman experienced the sheer horror when the ex husband abducted her, beat her and raped her and threatened to set her on fire thus put her hair on fire with a lighter.

The new shocking case of domestic violence took place in Corinth, north-eastern Peloponnese, when the 33-year-old ex husband forced the victim in his car and drove towards the Canal where he threatened to throw her over.

While he was driving he beat her. At some deserted road, he stopped the car and put her hair on fire slowly with a lighter in order to force her to take her cloths off. Then he drove the victim to his parents’ house where he raped her.

According to korinthostv.gr, the incident took place last Wednesday.

After he set the woman free, the victim fled to the police station of Corinth.

Police located the perpetrator a few hours late and arrested him. The man of Albanian origin was taken to court where the prosecutor ordered that he be held in custody.

After the police station, the victim went to the general hospital of the city in north-eastern Peloponnese, where she received first aid.

The ex couple has two children aged 2.5 and 5.

Through her lawyer, the victim stated that she would be the next victim of femicide in the country. Her brother told local media, that “any woman who experiences similar situations should speak out.”

Women in Greece have been experiencing a wave of domestic violence in the last 3 years, while the number of femicide victims, where women are been killed by their current or former partners have reached unprecedented levels.
