Greece’s Shipping Ministry issued on Monday a ban on sailing of ships and ferries due to gale-force winds in the Aegean Sea reaching up to 9 Beaufort.
Ships will not be sailing from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio to the islands of Cyclades, the Dodecanese and Crete.
Ferries and ships will operate as usual in the Saronic gulf.
In northern Greece, the schedule between Thassos island and Keramoti near Kavala has also been cancelled.
Gale-force winds are forecast also on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
If you plant to travel by sea, check with local port authorities and travel agents.
UPDATE: Most schedules operate from the ports of Piraeus and Rafina as of Tuesday afternoon.
The sailing ban is still valid for ships and ferries from the port of Lavrio.
