A 36-year-old woman was stabbed 14 tines by her fiance who then attempted to take his own life, after the stabbing and fire he put in their apartment. Both victim and perpetrator are hospitalized in Heraklio, Crete, where also the brutal incident took place on Sunday evening.
The woman suffered injuries to chest, back and upper limbs.
Citing neighbors testimonies local media cretalive.gr reported that the couple that was living together in Koroni Magara area was heard to have a loud argument that extended for some hours.
At 9.30 on Sunday night, the woman came out of her house covered in blood. the neighbors saw her fainting and called the police.
The perpetrator reportedly set also fire in the house, however, his father, who lives directly in the apartment above, managed to extinguish the fire.
The woman runs a shop in a tourist area of Heraklio and the man is an electrical engineer.
The victim was extubated on Monday, is still in the ICU, her condition is critical due to a serious injury in one of her lungs.
As for the man, he underwent surgery and is being treated at the hospital’s General Surgery Clinic.
After a surgery, the perpetrator remains hospitalized under police guard.
