Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY updated its weather warning on Sunday, June 18, thus upgraded the category of intense weather phenomena to Red.
According to EMY warning, forecast are heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and possibly hail.
Alert messages were sent by the Civil Protection via the <112> emergency line to residents of central and south Evia, Cyclades islands, Chios and Lesvos on Sunday, warning them of avoiding unnecessary traveling or movement in the areas.

EMY WEATHER WARNING
The bad weather front is now moving eastward and will gradually affect the Cyclades island and later the islands of the eastern Aegean Sea. The phenomena are forecast to decrease their intensity in the evening hours.
According to EMY WARNING, particularly strong phenomena are forecast on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in the following regions:
1) Central and Southern Evia: until the afternoon hours
2) Northern Cyclades islands: until the afternoon hours
3) Islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, especially Chios and Lesvos: until the early evening hours.

Meteorologists forecast a weather improvement with temperatures reaching over 30 degrees Celsius in the following days, however, again temperatures drop and rainfalls in the upcoming weekend.
