Heatwave: Archaeological sites in Greece to operate with modified hours

The Culture Ministry announced on Thursday that operating hours of archaeological sites in Greece are being modified due to the heatwave with temperatures up to 44 degrees Celsius.

Visitors will not allow visitors from 12 noon until 05:30 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday, July 20-23, 2023.

“In the event of a change in the weather conditions, the Ministry of Culture will issue a new announcement,” he announcement said adding that “the Ephorates of Antiquities will ensure that all their employees are informed and that the appropriate measures are taken, taking into account the nature of the employees’ duties and the conditions of their place of work.”

Note that archaeological sites guards have already announced work stoppages during the heatwave , however, in hours different from those stated by the culture Ministry.
