The hot-dry-windy weather in the last two weeks has already burned down thousands of acres of forest, extinguished wildlife and destroyed properties in eastern and western Attica.
Spokesman of the Fire Service warned that the risk of fires will remain extremelt high in the next three days due to low humidity at 15%, increasing winds and temperatures that will reach 45 degrees Celsius..
See weather forecast here at KTG.
Once again no publishing of what the authorities will do differently to be prepared for category 5 areas other than maybe closing some national parks. Tell us your goals for these days so you can be judged on how effective your planning & preparedness is.
As long as locals continue to litter with no respect for the environment, throwing cigarettes and glass bottles by the windows of their cars, wildfires will continue to destroy what is left of nature in Greece every time it gets hot and/or it’s windy.
