YOLO Greece: Fiesta in public hospital on duty triggers outrage (video)

This is surreal Greece amid increase of Covid-19 and flu infections. The corridor leading to the ER of a big public hospital in Athens was turned into a venue of joy with live music and dance and thus while the facility was on emergency duty.

Taken away by the sound of music nurses and the governor of the facility who allegedly organized the fiesta dance in full Greek spirit. A group of staff is filming the “heroic” moments of Greece in absolute YOLO mood.

As CEO and staff enjoy the good times without masks – probably swept away by the sweet sound of bouzouki -, a stretcher-bearer quickly tries to bring an elderly patient to the ER and passes between the musicians and the joyful group.

The patient’s daughter helps pushing the stretcher as quickly as possible , while a second relative carries bags with the patient’s personal items.

The video has been posted on social media and has already triggered an outrage.

Many call on health minister, Michalis Chrysohoidis, to intervene and probably fire the governor.

The video was originally posted by former SYRIZA deputy health minister, controversial Pavlos Polakis, a red flag for ruling New Democracy.

On his post, Polakis noted among others: “Just think this would have happened when I was a minister…”

The spree was organized while the hospital was on Emergency duty, Polakis added.

PS Can you imagine how it is to not know if you’ll live or die, you feel also the agony of your family and to have to pass first through hospital personnel dancing if there was no tomorrow.

  1. Doctor and nurses are not some sort of “heroes”. They never got golden medals after COVID, only got fired after they were no longer needed.

  2. Incredibly thoughtless! 😱

  3. I suppose that the attitude is “anything is better than work”, although patient care is alien to many of the staff in public hospitals. Similarly in state education, otherwise frontisteria grind schools wouldn’t be booming.
The joys of being public sector employees!

  4. OMG, the underpayed staff in a public hospital celebrating a moment of Christmas….Shame on them 😉
I think that’s the only reason that they are on duty …. better be at work on Christmas and take care of strangers for a very poor salary than celebrate the Holidays together with their loved ones at home, where they can’t afford heating and anything else!

    • Teleperformance is hiring!!! Shift work, still underpaid and working on Christmas too!!! Sounds better, Sisi????

  5. This could all be done in the backyard or anyway in some area where the staff rests. They have no right to insult Greece’s public health system in this way. There are so many other ways. Imao.

  6. Understaffed, underpaid, overworked and underappreciated hospital staff having a bit of harmless fun around the holidays. How dare they!?

And now they are being shamed.

    • Are you for real???? This is a hospital, Covid cases rising again, people getting injured and so on and need help in a hospital bit they cannot help because they celebrating Christmas….BRAVO!!!! I would love to see you in this situation when YOU need help!!!!!
If they are underpaid, they can quit their jobs and start a career in Teleperformance!!!!
