Golden Dawn leader Michaloliakos returns to prison

Convicted leader of neo-Nazi Golden Dawn, Nikos Michaloliakos, will return to prison after the judicial council of the Lamia Court of Appeals reversed his temporary release on Monday.

66-year-old Michaloliakos was released form prison beginning of May with a decision of a court in Central Greece on the ground of health issues and with restrictive conditions.

In 2020, he was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for leading a criminal organization, that is the Golden Dawn.

On Monday, the appeals council fully overturned the decision of another local court that had granted Michaloliakos release.
The judges accepted the proposal of the prosecutor and ruled that despite his trial and heavy conviction, Michaloliakos remains unrepentant.
