The Acropolis of Athens will be closed from 12 noon until 5 p.m. on Wednesday due to soaring temperatures expected to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius in the shade.
The Culture Ministry said in an announced that the measure aims to protect both visitors and workers.
The measure will most likely be implemented also tomorrow, Thursday, July 18, 2024, where temperature is forecast to reach 39 degrees Celsius.

It’s a good idea. Too bad that it’s still VERY HOT at 17:00, and basically until the sun sets. Hopefully after 17:00 there is some shade or shadow effect at the monument.
