I seem to be missing something here. After weeks of excessive heat, there may be in some parts of Greece (but not Athens) some rainstorms “of short duration”. And then we return to an expected heatwave throughout August.
Surely, the issue here is about terrible heat over the entire summer, the necessity of air conditioning which is missing from many poorer homes, and the cost of electricity to run them? This is a social and economic crisis!
As was noted recently: the billionaires have not noticed global warming, the multimillionaires have made some small adjustments, the rich are paying to insulate themselves from it, the middle class are struggling to cope with it, and the poor are just suffering. The high cost of global warming will be paid entirely by the poor and the middle class.
