The Samaria gorge will remain closed from both entrances for visitors tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, due to weather conditions.
The decision for a new temporary closure of the gorge, as reported by the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency, was taken after weather forecasts showed a chance of rain of up to 2.5mm.
“The Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency, taking into account the received updated weather forecast of the National Meteorological Service for the possibility of up to 2.5mm of rain in the Samaria National Forest as well as the need to achieve the best possible level of safety for visitors, workers and the natural environment of the National Forest, for Wednesday October 30, 2024, the Samaria Gorge will remain closed from both entrances,” the statement said.

Last month a tourist was killed and hundreds were trapped inside the Samaria gorge when a sudden rainstorm caused landslides and rockfalls.
