Examinations for Greek language certification were completed nationally by 3,217 applicants for Greek citizenship on Sunday.
The language certification is a required step for foreigners applying for Greek citizenship.
Examinations were organized by the Interior Ministry’s General Secretariat for Citizenship, in cooperation with the Education, Religions and Sports Ministry. There were 55 test centers throughout Greece, of which 5 were dedicated to applicants who are over 62 years of age or are unable to participate in a written examination due to learning disabilities or physical disabilities of over 67%.
It was also the first time a pilot program was tested on controlling cellphones and other electronic devices to ensure transparency and credibility of the examinations.
