Storm Alexandros: Residents in four regions receive <112> emergency message

Residents of  Thessaly, Evia, the Sporades islands and Fthiotida received an <112> emergency alert message at 17:30 on Friday warning them of the upcoming storm ALEXANDROS in their areas in Central Greece.
The message of the Greek Civil Protection was warning them of “dangerous weather phenomena from Friday evening until Saturday noon,” urging them at the same time “to avoid unnecessary movement and to follow Authorities’ instructions.”

The whole of Greece has been in the grip of bad weather storm Alexandros since Friday afternoon, with the main characteristics being severe storms and the rapidity with which the phenomena are developing.

Problems have already been caused in Ioannina, Epirus, while roads have been flooded in Athens and Attica since the afternoon following a 15-minute rainstorm.

Meteorologist Giorgos Tsatraphyllias expressed his concern about the bad weather with extreme high rainfall and stormy northerly winds.

In a post on his social media account, he pointed out at the prefecture of Magnisis, the city of Volos and villages of Mt. Pelion, the Sporades islands, especially Skopelos and Skiathos, Central and Northern Evia and Fthiotida. “I implore you to take care of your lives!” he stressed.
