Evelity app for passengers with disabilities in Athens Metro

The innovative electronic urban mobility improvement system “app Evelity” for Metro passengers with disabilities was presented on  at the “Acropolis” Metro station in downtown Athens on Monday, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The ‘Evelity’ app, which has been installed at the Acropolis station on a pilot basis, helps to guides passengers with disabilities and even those without, step by step, assisting in their autonomous and safe movement within the metro.

The “Evelity” urban mobility system is now available for any passenger facing any difficulty – people with disabilities, the elderly, tourists, children and adolescents learning to move independently – and who needs further guidance when navigating large and complex building spaces, such as the Metro.

In practice, the App works like a GPS, planning the optimal indoor route and providing detailed movement instructions.

In a complex environment, such as a metro network, a network of Bluetooth devices and sound beacons is installed, which allows people with visual, auditory and motor disabilities to travel independently, with greater confidence and safety. In this way, the app becomes an assistant for passengers, accompanying them throughout the station.

The app does not require internet services and data. [amna].
