For the first time in Argolida, East Peloponnese, a spectacular phenomenon appeared before the storm on Monday: a shelf cloud. The shape and the colors of the shelf cloud created stunning pictures.

A shelf cloud is a low, horizontal, wedge-shaped arcus cloud. A shelf cloud is attached to the base of the parent cloud, which usually brings a strong thunderstorm.

As expected, the storm broke down in the wider area of Argolida plain, with heavy rainfall, strong wind and powerful lightning.

Indicative for the force of the nature: more than 3,500 thunderbolts fell within a few hours.
