Greece coronavirus: 7,682 cases, 12 deaths, intubations on the rise

Hospitalizations and intubations of Covid-patients increased in the last two days as the daily coronavirus remain around 10,000.  Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 7,682 coronavirus cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals ICUs has increased to 95 from 88 last Friday, June 24.

To the 7,682 new coronavirus infections, one has to add the 1,382 reinfections the health authorities do not include to the daily cases.

Daily numbers June 25-26:

Saturday: 12,082 cases*, 8 deaths, 88 intubated in ICUs

Sunday: 9,294 cases*, 13 deaths, 93 intubated in ICUs

*cases without reinfactions

Sunday and Monday confirmed cases are traditionally lower than on working days due to the weekend.

Warning of 20,000 infections daily

Member of the Epidemiologists’ Committee Gkikas Majiorkinis warned on Monday afternoon, that they expect a little over 20,000 confirmed cases, tomorrow, Tuesday.

He added that in the last week there is an increase in confirmed cases by 60%, of hospitalization by 44%, while the number of intubated Covid-patients remains stable with mild increase of 3%.

“The basic prediction scenario for the summer outbreak remains at its peak until July 10, at the level of 20,000 cases daily, he noted.

EODY bulletin June 27

National Health Care Organization (EODY) said on Monday that all confirmed infections since the pandemic began stand at 3,624,556 (daily change: +0.2%).

Of the daily total, reinfections are estimated at 1,382 in the last 24 hours, while their total since the pandemic began is estimated at 161,547 (4.3% of the total positive results).

Rt: 1.32 (from 0.96 last week)

12 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours brought the total of pandemic victims to 30,190. Of these, 95.7% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

97 Covid-patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 70 years and 92.8% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

Of the total in intubation, 43 (44.33%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 54 (55.67%) are fully vaccinated.

4,725 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

210 Covid-patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -2.78%. The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 195.

The median age of new infections is 37 years (range: 0.2 to 112 years), while the median age of the deceased is 80 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
