Two injured in helicopter on emergency landing on Kefalonia

Two men were injured after a helicopter made an emergency landing in a field on the island of Kefalonia on Thursday morning.

The two Greek men, the pilot and one passenger, aged 60 and 65 years old, were transferred to the local hospital where they are reportedly being treated for minor injuries. One man has broken his shoulder when the helicopter landed on the field.

According to eyewitnesses the helicopter made several circles above the area of Kleisma and Palio Linos, before landing in the landing in a field in Leivathos area.

Fire Service and police rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed.

The helicopter had reportedly a sudden mechanical problem as the members of the Aeroclub of Kefalonia were taking a flight over the Ionian Sea, heading from Kefalonia to the neighboring island of Zakynthos.

The Police is investigating the cause of the accident.
