Greece’s Air Traffic Controllers onto hold 4-hour work stoppage

The Board of Directors of the Hellenic Air Traffic Controllers’ Association called on its members to participate with a 40hour work stoppage in the 24-hour strike declared by civil servants union ADEDY on August 28, 2025.

The four-hour work stoppage is scheduled from 09:30 to 13:30.

According to an announcement by the Controllers’ Association, during the work stoppage, only the following flights will be served to meet the essential needs of the public:
– Flights overflying the Athens FIR.
– Flights carrying Heads of State and Prime Ministers.
– Flights of the Hellenic Air Force participating in operational missions and scheduled exercises.
– Aircraft experiencing unusual situations or in a state of emergency.
– Medical flights.
– Humanitarian aid flights.
– Search and rescue flights.

If you plan to fly on August 28, check with the airline or your travel agent.
Please, keep in mind that sometimes courts in Greece declare “illegal” strike actions of the Air Traffic Controllers Association.
