A new wave of Sahara Dust is expected to affect Greece from Saturday 14, and last until early next week, AtmoHub, the information hub for atmospheric composition in Greece, and the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens reported.
According to AtmoHub, following the passage of a low-pressure system and the temporary cessation of rainfall, a new episode of Sahara dust transport originating from Algeria and Libya is expected to affect the country starting on Saturday, February 14, 2026..
The phenomenon will initially affect eastern Greece before spreading across the country, reaching even the northern regions.
According to AtmoHub, the dust episode is expected to last from Saturday until early next week, peaking on Sunday.
The areas most affected will be southern and central Greece (Crete, the Peloponnese, Central Greece, and the Aegean and Ionian islands). In northern regions, the combination of dust and rainfall is expected to result in mud rains.
The forecast and the development of the phenomenon, based on data from the CAMS Atmospheric Monitoring Service, can be followed on the AtmoHub web portal at: https://portal.atmohub.gr/erimiki-skoni
