Police on the island of Lesvos is investigating the case of a van used by a non-governmental organization to have license plates belonging to an army vehicle. According to local media, police stopped the van in the area of Kratigos near the airport on Saturday night.
During the control police discovered a pair of license plates under the visible license plates. It turned out that the hidden plates belonged to a vehicle of the Greek Army.
Furthermore, the police found wire communications equipment inside the van.
One person was arrested. No further details have made known, neither whether the NGO that deals with refugees and migrants on the island is a Greek or an international one.
Authorities describe the case as “particular serious,” lesvosnews.net reported.
