Turkish Red Crescent extended on Tuesday 8 tons of food stuffs, as well as stationary and office supplies and toys at the nursery of the Greek Orthodox Ecumenic Patriarchate in Istanbul, Turkey. Tekin Kucukali, the head of the TRC, said pain had no language, religion or sect while handing over the assistance to the Greek Orthodox community in Istanbul.
“If we are notified about your needs, we meet them,” Kucukali said.
It was the first time TRC extended assistance to the Greek Orthodox Community there. Dositheos Anagnostopoulos, the spokesman of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, said every person could be needy irrespective of his/her religion or ethnic origin.
“Our main principle is to live together and try to solve our problems altogether whether we are Muslim, Christian or Jewish,” Anagnostopoulos said and added “TRC’s assistance was the proof of how Turkey had changed.”
