Giorgos Zannias, caretaker finance minister under Pikrammenos government, is to be appointed as the new President of the National Bank of Greece (NBG), state broadcaster NET TV reported on Friday afternoon. Although Pikrammenos government resigned after June 17 elections, Zannias is still FinMin because a) Vassilis Rapanos -the former President of NBG- “resigned” from the FinMin position due to health problems, b) Rapanos resigned also from his position as President of NBG and c) Yiannis Stournaras – the new FinMin- has not be sworn-in yet because a) Zannias was assigned to represent Greece at the EU Summit of June28/29/2012 and b) Greece cannot have two finance ministers at the same time.

PS Huh? After the so many changes in persons and positions I won’t know anymore who is what when I see them on TV. Same happened to me recently when known officials from Nea Dimocratia and PASOK moved to Independent Greeks and SYRIZA and from LAOS to Nea Dimocratia.
New Greece is on the making – same persons in new positions 🙂
