Earthquake jolts Crete with magnitude 5.2 R

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted Crete at 2:46 p.m. on Saturday. The epicenter was in the sea 57 km south of Agia Galini and 10 km south-east of Gavdos island. The depth is estimated to be 27 km.

The earthquake lasted several seconds. No injuries or material damage has been reported so far.

Greek media report that three minor earthquakes measuring 4R, 3.6R and 3.6R occurred in the area on Friday.

PS I wonder whether the earthquake in Crete is the consequence of the 7.1 R earthquake that hit Indonesia a couple of hours earlier.
