Downtown Athens: Three Metro stations to close due to Polytechnic Commemoration March, Nov17/2015

Three metro stations will be closed as of 2:30 p.m. today Tuesday, November 17th 2015 due to the march for the commemoration of the Polytechnic School Students’ Uprise. The metro stations are <Syntagma>, <Evangelismos> and <Megaro Mousikis>.  The metro wagons will pass through but no passengers will be able to get on or off the trains. they will open again when the march is over.

It is a precaution measure by the police to avoid ugly incidents of people being trapped in the metro stations and being teargassed as it happened in the past.

The march will start at 3:30 p.m. from the Polytechnic School near the National Museum and through Stadiu Avenue and Syntagma will end up in front of the US embassy.

The metro stations will open again once the march is over, sometime in early evening or later.
