Unresolved issues in Macedonia name remain, as talks conclude in Vienna

A fresh round of Macedonia talks concluded in Vienna last Friday afternoon, where the foreign ministers of Greece, Nikos Kotzias, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, had a meeting with the Special Envoy of United Nations, Matthew Nimetz. Although all people parties involved expressed optimism in statements after the talks, what is clear is that issues remain unresolved.

“The steps we take are difficult, but all steps take us closer to the possibility of a solution,” Nikos Kotzias said. Underline that there is some convergence, the Greek foreign minister said “we have written down in detail the issue we agree upon and those we disagree with. We have identified the main issues for each side and I hope that at our next meeting we will be ready to take a big step. “

The meeting was held at the Austrian foreign ministry, as the UN office in Vienna was closed due to the Catholic Easter holidays.

The next round is expected to take place between Kotzias and Dimitrov after the Greek Orthodox Easter.
