Germany has urged Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on Monday to solve all the remaining issues standing in the way of an agreement to settle a decades-old dispute regarding the Macedonia name issue.
In a statement issued a day before Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias meets with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, in Berlin, German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Adebahr called on Athens and Skopje to take advantage of a “historic opportunity” for an agreement that will have a “positive effect on bilateral relations as well as on regional stability.”
Adebahr said the two foreign ministers are to discuss bilateral relations and an action plan signed between the two countries in 2016, but also international issues such as the ongoing United Nations-brokered name talks with FYROM.
The Greek Foreign Ministry tweeted on Tuesday morning

The Greek government has made clear, that if Athens and Skopje do not agree on all issues, there will be no agreement.
Germany had played an active role in the Macedonia name issue when the the Former Republic gained Independence from Jugoslavia.

The only reason that Germany wants a quick and urgent resolution to the name “issue” is so that under NATO and EU rules they can then sell their “defence” platforms to FYROM.
