Greece’s National Meteorological Service has issued a warning of sudden weather deterioration with rainfalls and thunderstorms and snowfalls on the mountains.
According to the EMY weather warning, the main features of the weather deterioration will be: rainfalls and thunderstorms locally very strong, possible hale-falls and very strong winds.
The bad weather front will initially affect Greece’s mainland in the West and the Ionian islands as of Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2018

Rainfalls and temporary thunderstorms as of early morning in Western mainland and the Ionian Sea.
The phenomena will be locally very strong in West and Central Macedonia, Thessaly and Sporades as of noon time.
As of afternoon, the Ionian islands and the rest of the mainland with exception of East Macedonia and Thrace.
South winds of up to 7 – 8 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea.

Rainfalls and thunderstorms locally strong in Ionian Sea, Epirus, West and Central Macedonia, Thessaly, Sporades, Sterea, Evia, Peloponnese and Crete.
Gradually the phenomena will extend to the rest of the Aegean islands and the Dodecanese.
Temporary snowfalls on the mountains of Central and North Greece.
Winds up to 7 – 8 Beaufort in the open seas.
The phenomena are expected to weaken as of Tuesday night.
However, rainfalls will continue in some regions also on Wednesday, 24. October 2018.
Meteorologist forecast temperatures will significantly drop as the following weekend 27-28. October 2018.
