Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY has issued early afternoon Wednesday a warning of dangerous weather phenomena forecast to strike Athens and Attica.
EMY warns of strong rainfalls, thunderstorms and locally also hail.
The weather phenomena are expected to last until the late evening hours of Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
Meteorological stations recorded the number of lightning and the rain accumulation.
One hundred lightning flashes fell in broader Attica region on Wednesday afternoon, one of them, a powerful one, stroke the Acropolis of Athens injuring two tourists and two site guards.
