Shoals of fish jumped out their natural environment, the sea water and landed on the docks of the port of Preveza, West Greece, on Tuesday night.
Visitors were stunned to see thousands of fish ashore, however, the locals were not surprise as the impressive phenomenon is not rare in the area.
The shoals of frisses, fish resembling to sardines, jumped out of the salty water and on the cement of the Preveza port.
The video was shot by Ahmet Khan who was fishing when the poor fish in frenzy jumped out of the water.
Of course, there were those who flocked to the port with bags and baskets to collect the fish. however, frisses are known to have much too many bones and not to be as delicious as sardines.
The phenomenon usually start occuring at this time of the year, and it reaches its peak in July and August.
The explanation for the phenomenon? Frisses jumped into the land in order to escape from bigger fish that were chasing them.
