Turkish president Erdogan threatens with 2. invasion of Cyprus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened with a second invasion in Cyprus and thus on the 45th anniversary of the Cyprus invasion and occupation in 1974.

“Those who dream of changing the fact that Turkish Cypriots are an integral part of the Turkish nation will realize it is in vain,” Erdogan said.

He added that Turkey and  the [so-called] “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” will oppose efforts by the Greek Cypriots to exploit the island’s resources.

“Turkey will not hesitate to intervene, just like it did 45 years ago, to ensure the safety and security of Turkish Cypriots whenever it is necessary,” Erdogan threatened.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 and the north part is illegally occupied by Turkey since 1974. when Turkish troops intervene on the island.

    Erdogan is fortunate that Greece has exercised enormous restraint. His quest for S400s are the result of not being able to defend itself against Greece’s military. Who does he think he is fooling? He can not hold western powers hostage forever and if a new government employs the same policies, heaven help Turkey.
