Thousands of people, his parents, his friends gathered in Keratsini, Piraeus, on Wednesday to commemorate rapper Pavlos Fyssas who was stabbed to death by a member of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn 6 years ago.
Young and old marched to the small memorial installed in his memory chanting antifascist slogans.
His parents were leading the march.
34-year-old Pavlos Fyssas was stabbed to death on September 18, 2013 by a local Golden Dawn member, Giorgos Poupakias.
Fyssas’ murder practically put an end to Golden Dawn as the then New Democracy-PASOK government decided to prosecute several members including the party leadership. The trial of Golden Dawn continues, it is expected to end by the end of this year.
Sadly, the commemoration marched ended in clashes between police and protesters.
When the march reached the center of Piraeus, a group of 30 people started to throw stones at police that responded with tear gas and sound flares.
