A British man ran over his wife with the family car on the island of Skiathos late on Tuesday night, after a night out. The 58-year-old woman, also a British national, died on the spot.
The couple have been living in Panorama area on the island for quite some time, local media report.
According to astratv.gr, the couple returned home after having consumed a large amount of alcohol.
The wife was walking home, but she reportedly fainted and fell on the rural road outside the couple’s home.
At the same time, the husband had gone to their car and was driving it home when the car ran over his wife.
The woman reportedly died on the spot. A doctor found contusional injuries on the body, leading to the assumption that she was overran by a car.
Police investigates the incident that took place around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
The 61-year-old husband was arrested and charged for “homicide by negligence,” and was released from custody, note local media magnisianews.
