Police dismantles drugs trafficking ring, seizes 105 kg of cocaine

The Drugs Squad of the Greek Police dismantled a major cocaine trafficking ring and seized 105 kilogram of the illegal drug. In cooperation with the US DEA and following a tip off police raided an apartment in Agios Dimitrios-Brahami suburb of south Athens on Thursday.

Police confiscated also 828,000 euros in cash.

Three people were arrested.

Arrested are three foreign nationals, two Albanians and a Croatian.

The drugs and the money were hidden in all possible and impossible places in apartments in Agios Dimitrios and Ilioupoli.

The cocaine was stored in baking trays and pyrex, in pots with sand or rice, drawers, and bags as well as in the storage space under a bed.

The drug traffickers had carefully packed the cocaine in packages bearing also their trade mark.

Police estimates that the criminal ring would make a profit of 5 million euros from the cocaine.

The drugs ring would not sell directly to consumers but to middlemen, media reported.

Police investigation continues.
