Apart form the spectacular scenery, floods, power outages and rain- and snowfalls created immense problems to the people in several areas of Greece, especially on Pilio, in Halkidiki and Evia.
Three people had to be rescued by the Fire Service in Veria and Halkidiki. The drivers had attempted to cross overflown streams and were trapped in the waters. In Veria, the vehicle was even swept away and the driver managed to get out in time.
Halkidiki
Heavy rainfalls and powerful winds flooded local streams, uprooted trees, triggered power-outages and created problems on the traffic network due to land- and rock-slides.

Some Halkidiki villages have been “cut” from the the rest of the world due to the infrastructure damages.
Agia, Larissa
The resort village of Agia by Larissa in Central Greece was flooded due to the heavy and persistent rainfalls. Local authorities speak of “unprecedented phenomena.”

Evia
Intense weather phenomena and rushing waters brought a bridge to collapse in Artmemisio in the Istiaia Municipality in northern Evia. The worst was avoided as no vehicle was on the bridge that fell apart like a paper tower.
Rhodes
Rainfalls turned streets and roads between Faliraki and Koskinoy on the island of Rhodes into rivers.
On Friday morning a strong hail-fall hit Gennadi.

Grevena
Half meter snow in Vassilitsa by Grevena in West Macedonia.

The intense weather phenomena have weakened in mainland and low “Dido” moved to the East with rainstorms hitting the Cyclades and the Dodecanese on Thursday.
The weather is forecast to worsen again as of Saturday, December 14, 2019, for one more time with intense phenomena of rain, storms and snow.
