Greece’s Education Ministry had suspended educational school trips to Italy after the dramatic increase of corona virus infections in the neighboring country. Returning students will no be in quarantine, because they did not visit the affected areas, is the advise by the National Health Organization (EODDY).
“Students, who are already in the process of returning to Greece [from Italy], will return to their normal activities,” Education Minister Niki Kerameos told media on Monday morning.
School classes on education trips to Italy have not being visiting the North of the country, hit by the corona virus, but mainly capital Rome and surrounding areas, media report. Ten high-school classes with estimated more than 200 students in total are reportedly currently in Italy. Several classes have already returned to Greece fearing possible lockdown.
“There is no cause for concern,” the minister adding that the decision to suspend all school trips to Italy applies to all levels of education.
Concerning the measures already in place in the educational facilities of Greece, the minister stressed that circulars with preventive and hygiene measures have been sent to all facilities.”
