Greek gov’t “awards” companies for migration centers construction, bypassing…

Instead of launching public tenders, the Greek government simply awarded three well-known big construction companies with the building of the closed migration centers on the islands of Lesvos, Chios and Samos.

The Ministry of Migration and Asylum invited the companies Aktor, Terna and Mytilineos with a posting on the Diavgeia website of the Greek state.

AKTOR is assigned with the preparatory work for the fencing and clearing of the requisitioned land on Lesvos for €854,390.

TERNA is the contractor for the center on Chios for €1,031,398.

Mytilineoss will undertake the project on Samos for  €947,651.

“A contract will be signed between the ministry and the contractors after the completion of the pre-contractual legality check and the good performance guarantee,” stare-run news agency amna reported.

Usually, the government is allowed to bypass public tenders and “award” companies for public projects due to “emergency reasons” and for amounts much lower than the above mentioned.

PS *sigh*
