“Turkey undermines stability in the region, it should abandon its neo-Ottoman dreams,” Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Tuesday describing the neighboring country as regional “bully.”
Turkey’s “goal is to politically and militarily control the entire Eastern Mediterranean region,” Mitsotakis said adding “they want to have a say, they want to be a determining factor for every decision that is made for our region and in our region. This is unacceptable to all countries that want to preserve their sovereignty and independence, for which they have fought.”
The Greek Prime Minister stressed that “we expect Turkey to abandon its neo-Ottoman dreams and participate in our regional cooperation, but only as an equal, legitimate partner, not as a bully in the region.”
Mitsotakis spoke to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth during his visit to Israel and responding to a question on how Turkey’s stance could influence the East Med gas pipeline project.
“The tripartite forms of cooperation – such as the one between Greece, Cyprus and Israel – are not directed against anyone or exclude anyone,” Mitsotakis said.
“Regional cooperation is always open to all. However, there is one condition: Respect for international law and good neighborly principles,” he added.

Spot on! Thanks for raising awareness – Mr. Mitsotakis.
Turkey has boiled the blood and blackened the hearts of kindred Greeks to an unbearable degree.
May god allow allies to come faster than they had in WWII when Greece led the charge, even outnumbered 2 to 1 against superior military hardware to win the very first allied battle and set an inspiring precedent for the rest of Europe to follow.
If there is any time Greece’s friends and allies step up to the plate for all Greece has continuously contributed, please…the time is now, and may we ensure that it never happens again.
