A mini heat wave with temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius has been hitting Greece, despite the “meltemia”, the summer north winds. The features of this rather unstable weather are bright sunshine, high temperatures but also local rainfalls, showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the following days.
According to meteorologists, high temperatures will remain high until July 5, 2020, while rainfalls and thunderstorms are expected mainly in mountainous areas in the North.
Wind will be blowing with up to 6-7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea.
Weather Forecast July 2-5, 2020
The weather will most likely remain unstable also beginning of the next week, with clouds, rainfalls and locally temperatures up to 40°C.
On the last day of June, the maximum temperature recorded was in Dion, Pierias, western Macedonia, with 40.3° C, followed by 39.1 C in Sindos, and over 38 C in Larissa, Trikala, Sparti and Corinth.
In the night from July 1 to July 2, temperature in Attica did not drop below 27° C in Athens and Piraeus.
PS Somehow this summer 2020 seems much shorter due to a relative cool June and the struggle to keep up with the coronavirus protection measures.
