Greece’s health authorities announced on Friday, 98 more deaths in past 24 hours and 1,667 new coronavirus cases. 612 Covid-19 patients are intubated in hospitals ICUs.
Death toll has reached 2,804 and the total cases stand at 113,185.
Again the number of Covid-19 tests is some 18,000, even though Deputy Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis said during the live briefing “we have reached 30,000 checks daily.” Even if one adds some 8,000 rapid tests, that is well below the official number.

Head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced that no visitors are allowed to Mount Athos and that those tested positive at the land borders will not be allowed to enter into the country.

Average age of Covid_19 cases now at 49 with age increasing in recent weeks, leading to higher number of hospitalizations and deaths.

16,617 active cases currently. 7,031 (42.3%) of them in Central Macedonia, 3,267 (19.7%) in Attica, 1777 (10.7%) in Thessaly, 1590 (9.6%) East Macedonia & Thrace and 632 (3.8%) in Western Macedonia
86.1% of the active cases is in 5 regions, 66.4% in the north part of the country.
In contrast of other regional units, the epidemiological load in Xanthi, Drama, Pella, Florina, Pieria, Imathia does not decrease and remains in stable number. Especially in these regions, the COVID-19 cases are in villages.
A possible explanation of the second wave is due to the virus spreading in the community, a ping-pong phenomenon, that is it started within families, moved over to work facilities and returned to the families.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 4966(4.4%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 29765 (26.3%) are related to already known infection case.
The remaining infections are without known source.
52.8% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs is 612 from 622 a day earlier. Their average age is 65, among them are 175 women. 76% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
635 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
98 more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 2804. Of the deceased 1118 were women. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 96.4% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are over 2.437,614.
Tests in the last 24 hours: 18,241 with 9.14% οf them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.
