The president of National Health Organization EODY, Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, warned on Tuesday of a “possible four-digit number of coronavirus cases today.”
“It is very possible that today we have a four-digit number of cases, and that is why in combination with the increased number of mutations we should all be vigilant and observe the measures,” Arkoumaneas said speaking to Skai TV.
Tuesday is normally the day where daily coronavirus cases are “corrected” due to much fewer PCR and Rapid tests, often several thousands, over the weekend.
Greece saw a resurgence of infections since if opened again retail stores in the last 10 days of January.
It was forced to restrict again retail activities with click away and click in shop in several regional units and municipalities including Attica and Athens, although there was no crowding inside the stores but on the streets with the overwhelming majority of consumers wearing masks.
However, the government proceeded with the reopening of gymnasiums and lyceums since Monday, with the later to remain closed only in areas marked “red” and in tougher lockdown.
Health experts have expressed concern that the situation may go out of control and now there is talk about an even tougher lockdown, a total lockdown as in March 2020.
Some already warned that the third wave of the pandemic has already started, they caution about the situation in Attica and say that “the accordion system of opening and closing activities does not work, as it bring fatigue and confusion.”

Oh look, lockdowns are working…..
Lockdowns only work if people observe the rules and, so far, it is obvious that there is a large body of the population who do not. They are the ones responsible for the continuing spread. The logic behind lockdowns should be obvious. It certainly is to me and my friends but apparently, not to everyone.
My background is in science and technology so, for me, the so-called ‘conspiracy theorists’ fall into the same category as flat earth theorists: they cannot (or do not wish to) accept what is plainly in view( aka the facts).
For those people I would say ‘try using your eyes, brains and commonsense instead of your prejudices’.
Your family is at risk if you not.
