Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday evening 733 new coronavirus cases and 21 more deaths in the past 24 hours. Increased by 13 to 269 is the number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country. The stand is similar to the one on December 4, 2020.
Death toll has reached 5,978 and the total cases stand at 163,946.
As every weekend there were thousands of fewer PCR and Rapid tests, and no vaccinations.
Health experts and media speak of rapid increase of hospitalizations, especially in Athens.
Mutations
Meanwhile, the number of mutated cases has reportedly reached 403. Of them 397 are of the UK mutation and 6 from the South African.
Strain VOC 202012/01 (Lineage Β.1.1.7/UK lineage) was detected in:

According to the official daily bulletin 6037 (3.7%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 52276 (61.0%) are related to already known infection case.
The remaining infections are without known source.
51.9% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 262 from 249 a day earlier. Their average age is 70, among them are 189(72.1%) men. 85.9% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
1,164 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 21 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 5972. Of the deceased 3511(58.8%) were men. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.6% of them had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
