Greece’s National Organization for Medicines (EOF) said in a report that two cases of thrombosis are possibly linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine. According to the provisional report by EOF’s Pharmacovigilance Committee, the cases refer to a 35-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both on the island of Crete who developed thrombosis after vaccination with the specific vaccine.
According to information obtained by OPEN TV, the Commission held an extraordinary meeting on Thursday and the scientists came to a temporary conclusion about a possible correlation of the AstraZeneca vaccine with two cases of thrombosis.
The scientists came to the provisional conclusion as they have already been informed verbally about the effect of the antibody.
“They found that the 35-year-old and the 44-year-old were tested positive for a factor that is characteristic of thrombosis and bleeding syndrome. When the results reach the committee in writing, they will reach a final conclusion,” OPEN reported.
At the same time, the clinical examination in the case of the 47-year-old woman continues and the results are expected.
In fact, the information indicates that there is concern among committee members regarding the frequency of thrombosis cases with the AstraZeneca vaccine, note tvxs.gr. and in.gr
All 3 thrombosis cases on Crete
The 35-year old man reportedly developed two thromboses, one in the leg and one in the left carotid artery, a few days after his vaccination with AZ.. He underwent two surgeries and is in the process of recovery.
He was discharged from hospital on Thursday and told media that he will go to court and claim compensation. It was only last week where the Council of State ruled that citizens can claim compensation for serious damages they suffered from vaccinations.
“They found the antibody to platelet factor 4. It is an autoimmune condition produced after vaccines, it is what we call VIPID,” said Giorgos Chrousos, member of the National Vaccination Committee, referring to the case of the 35-year-old.
The 44-year old woman has reportedly developed thrombosis in the brain.
The 47-year-old has brain stroke and mild paralysis on the left side of the face. She developed fever right after the vaccination and a week later “thrombosis in the left carotid,” head of PAGNI, Giorgos Halkiadakis told media.
All three were/are being treated in PAGNI general hospital in Heraklio.
Faulty batch of vaccines or wrong maintenance?
What puzzles the health experts is that all three cases have been detected on Crete and the patients were vaccinated almost at the same time.
As all three cases were detected on the island of Crete, Giorgos Chrousos told MEGΑ TV and state broadcaster ERT that the problem may be due either to a faulty batch of vaccines or to the wrong way of maintaining them.
“Either the one or the other. Either a maintenance problem or something happened in the preparation of the vaccine. Problems often arise when you produce such biological materials,” Chrousos said adding that all “four available vaccines against Covid-19 can cause thrombosis.”
At the Live Briefing on Wednesday, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said that he could not comment on the “faulty batch of vaccines scenarios and stressed that all (thrombosis cases after AZ vaccination) are being investigated by health experts.
Reminds me of a saying heard after we did something wrong as kids…
“Once is careless, twice is coincidence, but three times is contemptuous behaviour.”
3 cases at the same time, in the same place, does suggest human error.
Anyone know where we can find a summary of all adverse effects in Greece? Something like the UK Yellow Card System or the USA CDC VAERS?
Is anything published on a weekly basis?
