A decision on whether vaccination against Covid-19 will become mandatory for specific professional groups will be announced next week, government spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni told reporters at the briefing on Thursday.
Peloni said the decision will be based on the recommendations of the National Bioethics Committee.
According to media, the mandatory vaccination of certain professional groups is expected to start not in September as initially planned but already in August.
Top on the list of professionals to be subject of mandatory vaccination are health care workers, staff at seniors care homes and teachers.
The government leaks to the press that no lay-off will take place for those will oppose the mandatory vaccination, but rather a position change to posts not in contact with the public.
Necessary legislation is due for the mandatory vaccination.
