Greece: Coronavirus deaths jump to 47 in past 24 hours; 2871 new cases

Covid-related deaths jumped to 47 in the past 24 hours Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday. At the same time, authorities announced also 2,871 new coronavirus cases and 346 intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units.

Of the 6,056,242 vaccinated citizens (58.1% of population with at least one dose):

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 590,832 infections (daily change: +0.5%)In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 185 infections are related to travel abroad and 1378 to other confirmed cases.


Rolling average: 2872 (3221 previous week)

51.1% of the infected are men.

There are 47 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 13,743*.  Of these, 95.3% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

*5 deaths from previous days were incorporated in today’s EDOY data.

A total of 346 Covid-patients – from 344 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 58.4% are men. 84.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY among the intubated patients:

319 (92.2%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated

27 (7.8%) are fully vaccinated

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 0-17  :   1
  • 18-39: 12
  • 40-64: 156
  • 65+  : 177

2,980 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

267 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +11.72%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 256.

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 2,871 new cases, 9 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 10 among travelers already in the country.

  1. All this data about covid infections and deaths, and STILL people who have applied, and received a PAMKA number are unable to get an appointment for the vaccine.
    Is ANYONE in control of the situation? Dont mention KEP, they have NO access and can do nothing! Surely its time SOMEBODY looked into this mess, and at least vaccinated those who want it
    There doesnt appear to be anyone at all who is responsible, or who can explain why someone seems to have been left out of the programme. Maybe its time an investigative journalist took a look into the current situation? Just a thought!!!
