Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 2,383 new coronavirus cases and 41 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals ICUs stands at 331.
At the weekly Live Briefing on Monday, the President of the National Vaccination Committee encouraged citizens to receive the booster shot of vaccine against Covid-19.
Addressing citizens’ concerns over possible side effects, Professor Maria Theodoridou said that they are similar to the first and/or second vaccine dose or milder than after the second dose.
Theodoridou stressed that surveys have shown that those administered the booster shot are 11 times at lower risk to contract the coronavirus and 20 times lower risk to get sick from the virus.
So far, 120,000 citizens have received the booster short and another 50,000 have make appointment for it.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 679,157 infections (daily change: +0.4%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 120 infections are related to travel from abroad and 3,289 to other confirmed cases.
41 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 15,177*. Of these, 95.3% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

A total of 331 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years and 80.1% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over. Of the 331 total, 287 (86.71%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 44 (13.29%) are fully vaccinated.
3,212 Covid-patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
187 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -9.22%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 186.
The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
