The sale of heating oil in Greece for the season 2021-2022 started on Friday with prices up by 46 percent when compared to the previous season. Natural gas is up by 48.5%. The prices make it difficult for many households to afford.
The prices start at 1.17 euros per liter in Athens and Thessaloniki and much higher on remote areas or the islands where transport cost is added and reaches €1.25/lt -€1.35/lt.
According to media reports from Crete, the heating oil price per liter in Heraklio was Friday morning was €1.23-€1.25 making a ton 480 euros more expensive than last year.
Price per liter was €0.80 in October 2020 and around 1 euro in April 2021, when the heating season practically ends.
Filling of a 1,000-liter tank will cost €1,170 when it was €800 a year earlier.
At the start of the heating period, the price of natural gas is almost twice that of last year, and for the first time is above the rate for heating oil: From 4.5 cents per kilowatt-thermal last year, the rate of gas has risen this month to 8 cents/KWth, which makes it 2.5% more expensive than heating oil, media reported.
Last month, a big natural gas supplier reportedly raised the price to €0.05401/KWth towards €0.0155 in September 2020.
The Greek government announced last week subsidies for around one million households for the heating oil and electricity used for heating. Also a 15%-discount to the companies supplying natural gas with the aim that they pass it over to end consumers.
However, the subsidies make only a small part of the total cost that will burden households if they will insist in spending the winter time in a warm environment.
The monthly gross MEP salary, under the single statute, is €8,995.39 (as of 1 July 2020)
There is 705 EU MEP today all receiving additional expenses ,outside the above mentioned figure , that covers Their heating and accommodation and all travel expenses away from there countries of origin ,
That’s €107,940 per annum with no heating or transport expenses to deduct from that total.
No wonder they don’t care about the cost of fuel for the people who pay for their wages. That’s us
According to the Commission, the European Union will need around €350 billion euros of annual extra investment in energy systems to achieve its 2030 emissions target, with an extra €130 billion to meet other environmental goals.
So the previously mentioned jokers ,very warm and very privileged, keep churning out targets and laws concerning normal people keeping them self warm ,this energy crisis is a glimpse of things to come .
Soon to come will be a ban on the burning of wood, the purchase of normal Greek wood burning stove in banned from Jan 2022,
So many EU rules and targets and no solutions to the problems faced daily by citizens affected by legislation which suits the incomes of the rule makers.
The polluters of Europe are not normal Greeks but the manufacturing elite of Northern Europe who have had their interests enthusiastically protected and promoted by the same EU come up with an affordable heat source.
